Patricia Ann Ohlin Bolding, 94, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on October 28, 2026. She was born September 24, 1932 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Ann Wass Ohlin and John Torston Ohlin.

Pat grew up in Bridgeport as a very happy child alongside her older brother Bob. After high school she was a service representative with the Bridgeport Telephone Company. She went on to work in banking her entire life.

In August, 1954 Pat met Bruce Bolding on a blind date and they were married in September 1955 after 13 dates. They started a family in 1957 with the birth of Ann Elizabeth, followed by Bruce Matthew (Matt) in 1959, and John Torston in 1961. They moved around a bit, living in Newport News, Williamsburg, Staunton, Pittsburgh, San Jose, and finally back to Staunton to retire. Two years ago, they moved to Virginia Beach to be closer to family.

Pat was a person of deep faith and a lifelong Episcopalian. She loved being a wife and mother.

Everyone who knew Pat knew how much she loved butter, ice cream, and playing bridge. She was in several bridge groups over the years. She had many friends and was especially close to Barbara Shepherd and Helen Caldwell. She and Barbara Shepherd served as Welcome Wagon ladies in Williamsburg for many years.

Pat is predeceased by her son John Torston Bolding. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Bruce, daughter Ann McGibbon (Doug), son Matthew Bolding (Paula), and daughter-in-law Susana Bolding. She is also survived by grandchildren Melissa Moore (Shawn), Scott McGibbon, Carmen Bolding (Travis), Andrew Bolding, Jennifer Bolding and great granddaughters Ava and Julia Moore.

The family wishes to thank the Sentara Hospice Care Team and Josephine, Mel and Jam Dizon of Angels Homecare for their loving, compassionate care.

I cry with loss every time I realize she is gone. My Aunt taught me a lot about how to behave like a man: men walk on the street side when escorting a woman, they hold doors open for ladies, etc. as I didn't have a male figure in my life to do so. She embraced me every time I screwed up, never ever an unkind or unloving word. She was a wonderful woman, mom, wife, and of course aunt. I know that she is with the Lord surrounded by a cloud of witnesses, I know that her lived a wonderful life and left a wonderful legacy of her children and grandchildren. Say hi to grandma and grandpa, dad and john, Aunt Pat. I hope to see you again, in God's perfect time. John Ohlin
