Obituary For Patricia (Gibson) Sykes

Virginia Beach - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia (Gibson) Sykes, who departed this life on July 4, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 64. Born on September 16, 1960, in Norfolk, VA, Patricia was a cherished wife, daughter, and friend.

Patricia dedicated many years of her life to her work as a meat cutter at a local grocery, where she was known for her dedication and skill. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on those she worked with and served.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harbert and Bobbie (Herron) Gibson, whose memory she held dearly throughout her life. Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Richard Sykes, daughter, Brendan Starr, sisters, Glenda Pyles and husband Ed, Gwen Cornwell, Kathy Harrison, Susie Nading and husband Randy, brothers, Bert and Kevin Gibson, along with other family members and numerous friends who will miss her deeply.

Pat loved to garden, and she loved animals, especially cats & dogs.

A celebration of Life will be held at Haygood Halls Apartment Clubhouse on July 28, 2025 at 4:30pm, the family requests no flowers. Instead, please consider a donation to your local SPCA in Pat’s memory. Simply Cremation is assisting her family with arrangements. Patricia's presence brought joy to those who knew her, and her memory will forever remain in our hearts.

    Pat will be missed! I met her at Norview High. She got me my first job. We worked well together. She was always such a hard worker. We went out dancing a lot and spent many weekends together. God rest her soul. Gone too soon my friend. Lissa layne Rogers

    Pat and I were friends for a good portion of her life. We worked at Food Lion at different era's and had many friends from Norview and Lake Taylor. I'm sure she will be missed by many! RIP Pat.
