Peggy Spry, 84, longtime resident of Virginia Beach, passed away on June 1, 2016. She was born September 25, 1931 in Dante, VA, to the late George Bartee and Clarice C. Ware. She was also predeceased by her husband, Robert D. Spry; daughter, Rita Sutherland Freeman; grandson, Dylan Freeman; and brother, Dean Holley.

Peggy retired as the catering manager from the Oceana Officer's Club after 30 years, moving to Huntington, WV, for a brief time, before returning to Virginia Beach to be near her family.

She is survived by daughter, Nancy Montgomery and husband, Charlie; and stepsons, John Thomas Spry of Nitro, WV, Robert Spry of Edenton, NC, and Charles Spry of Kill Devils Hill, NC; grandsons, Jeff (Laura) Meyers of Leesburg, VA and Casey Meyers of Virginia Beach; great grandchildren, Scott, Bradley, Rachel, Casey, Jr., and Ian Meyers; sister-in-law, Mary Spry of Whiting, NJ, and brother-in-law, William Spry of Egg Harbor, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Peggy's life will be held, Friday, June 10, 2016 at VFW Post 392, 2408 Bowland Parkway, Virginia Beach VA 23454 at 12 noon. Reception to follow.
