Obituary For Peter Christopher Bartolomeo

Chincoteague, VA - Peter Christopher Bartolomeo, born on January 12, 1952, in Washington, DC, passed away on September 27, 2025, in Chincoteague, VA, at the age of 73.

Peter had a passion and great talent for baking. Throughout his life he refined his recipes for puff pastry, donuts, cakes, and breads. Peter never gave up trying to create the perfect bread pudding. He was a constant tinkerer; There was nothing broken that he would not take apart to fix. Peter loved to grow tomatoes in the summer and build snowmen in the winter. He looked for turtles in the creek and watched lizards bask in the sun on fenceposts. He loved to walk in the woods and lift fallen logs to search for salamanders. Peter always found joy in the natural world. He passed on his curiosity and creativity to his children and step-children; Peter taught them to recognize wonders in the world around them, and to appreciate the perfection of onion rolls.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Michelangelo and Elinor (Cunningham) Bartolomeo and his sister Antonia “Toni” B. Gallagher. Peter is survived by his children Peter, Matthew, Maggie, and Angela, their mothers, and his step-daughters. He is also survived by six brothers and sisters, his grandchildren, and many extended family members. His family will miss him dearly.
