Obituary For Raymond Ellsworth Harrison
Raymond Ellsworth Harrison III was born on June 11, 1950 and died on Sunday August 31, 2025, after a long fight with Cancer at the age of 74. He was born to Raymond E. Harrison II and Elizabeth Mae Smith on June 11, 1950. Raymond was raised by Douglas D Speck and Elizabeth M Harrison (Smith) in Harrisburg PA.
He was married to Kim Ann Campbell on February 7, 1981, in Harrisburg PA. They have lived in Virginia Beach for over 20 years. Raymond is survived by his wife and 4 children, Rachelle Graffin of Hendersonville NC, Anna Knight of Virginia Beach VA, Julia Harrison of Washington State, and Scott Harrison of NC. He was preceded in death by father, Raymond E Harrison II of Washington State, and Douglas D Speck of Mechanicsburg PA, and son Randal S Harrison of Virginia Beach VA. His mother lives in Carlisle, PA. and has a sister Debra Peiffer(James) and a brother Thomas Speck(Wendy) both of PA, also he has three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
After High School he joined the Air Force. He later worked for Conrail Railroad for about 4 years, which he loved. He started working for the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot in 1984, and then the family moved south to work on the Nuclear Submarines at Norfolk for over 34 years.
Ray had a love of family and friends. He had stayed connected with many of them over the years. Ray enjoyed music, working on cars, stone and jewelry making, and fishing, which he enjoyed with his brother-in-law, Jim Peiffer. Ray was also a great cook and amazing with brisket and smoking meats, which he shared at work for their enjoyment. He was very knowledgeable in many subjects and loved to share his talents with his family and friends. He had a soft heart, a great sense of humor and loved being a father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by family and everyone who knew him!
