Obituary For Rebecca "Becky" Reid Slater

A special angel left this earth on Thursday, April 11, 2024 to be with God and watch over her loved ones after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Born on September 23, 1969 to Russell “Duck” Reid and Barbara (Nee Kernan), Rebecca “Becky” was raised in Virginia Beach. She graduated from Frank W. Cox High School in 1988. She went on to earn an Associates Degree in Business Management.

She met Matthew “Matt” Slater through mutual friends while he was serving in the Navy. They were married on August 31, 1996. Their beautiful daughter Samantha “Sam” was born in April of 2007.

Becky had a passion for basketball which she shared with her “mini-me,” Sam.

Becky excelled as a Service Advisor at Beach Ford for over twenty-eight years. She met many loving and loyal life-long friends through her job.

Becky was preceded in death by her son Zachary Slater; parents Barbara and Duck Reid; brother Kelly Reid; and father-in-law Marvin Slater.

Becky is survived by her loving husband Matt; devoted daughter Sam; siblings Mary (Scott) Durbin; siblings-in-love JJ (Lori) Slater; Kevin (Ofira) Arsham; Tobi Arsham; Staci (Vince) Silva; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; parents-in-love Nicci (Harvey) Arsham as well as countless cousins and dear friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home located at 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, 23462.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.

    I met Becky on October 5th 2021 after an interview at Beach Ford. I remember messing up on some things on the computer in the shop and Becky was so patient with me and taught me the ropes and tricks and and we became good friends. I am grateful for her always. Thank you Becky and may your soul be eternally at peace.

    I worked with Becky at Beach Ford from 2013-2016...her and her brother were friends with my uncles....I am so sorry to hear about her passing and she will forever be missed. My condolences to her family and friends...
