Obituary For Robert C. Olfers, Jr.

CHESAPEAKE

Robert C. (Bob) Olfers Jr., age 63, of the 1700 block of Shillelagh Road, Chesapeake, died peacefully on December 6, 2011 at Norfolk General Hospital. He was retired after 28 years with the City of Chesapeake and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 24 years, Barbara Olfers; his mother, Dora Southers; three sons, Robert Olfers III, James Olfers, and James Owen and wife Sandy; one daughter, Robin Terry and husband Ivan; two sisters, Margaret Smith and Joann Blue; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Services will be private. The family will receive friends at the home from 1 PM to 4 PM Sunday, December 11, 2011. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Cancer Society.

Arrangements are being handled by Simply Cremation, Virginia Beach.

    It's hard to understand why people are taken from us but find comfort in knowing you & your family were a special part of his life. God is always in your corner & so am I. Memories are the legacy of love & Roger (he will be gone a little over 1 1/2/ yrs.) & I are still your friend so please give me a call if you want to talk or need something.
