Obituary For Rodney Thomas Marko

Rodney “Ronnie” Thomas Marko passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2023, in Virginia Beach, VA at the age of 77. He was born on March 19, 1946, in Norfolk, VA.

Ronnie, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He was a witty and charismatic individual and had a knack for telling great stories and jokes, always bringing laughter to those around him. Ronnie's warm and caring nature was evident in his 42-year marriage to his wife, Barbara Shelton Marko, and his devotion to his daughter Kimberly Fraser (Michal) and his grandson Brayden Cooper Fraser. Ronnie is also survived by his sisters Brenda Egnor (Richard), Kathy Moore (Chuck), Carolyn Grey, Susan Evans, and Patricia Maciejewski, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie Gertrude and Rodney H. Ownly, his mother Betty Martin, and his father Norman B. Marko.

Ronnie's hard work and passion for his trade as a master electrician were evident to all who knew him. Through his dedication to his industry, he became the Owner/President of his own company, Marko Electric of Virginia, Inc. He was also a member of IBEW Local 80 electrical union for many years. Beyond his professional life, Ronnie found joy and relaxation in his hobbies of boating and fishing. He loved being out on the water surrounded by nature's beauty.

Friends and family will gather to honor Ronnie's life and share their memories at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cosmopolitan Club of Norfolk Foundation, Inc., whose mission is to fundraise for the research and treatment of diabetes in the ultimate search to find a cure. Donations may be mailed to 1800 Fleet Terrace, Virginia Beach, VA 23454.

Ronnie's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His quick wit, warm smile, and love for his family will be remembered forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

    I knew Ronnie thru his grandparents who loved him beyond measure. He was funny and laughed a lot. Sorry for your loss Debbie Marshall

    Rodney was my apprentice in the 1970s and he was a nice kid, friendly, eager to learn, and good to work with. I was saddened to read about his death, but glad to read that he had a good life and was successful as an electrician. My sincere condolences to all of his family. David A. Fell
