Obituary For Rolevee Manalo Ilamni-Roetzel

Rolevee Ilamni-Roetzel, affectionately known as “Vee,” age 54, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Sentara Norfolk Hospital. Born on March 26, 1970, in Philadelphia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Rogelio Ilamni Sr. and Librada Ilamni (Levie). Vee is survived by her loving mother Levie, her devoted brother Rogelio Ilamni II, and her cherished children Jakrista Roetzel (Jak), Mikayla Roetzel (Mik), and Ian.

Vee dedicated her life to her work as a medical assistant, where her compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless patients. Her kindness, humility, and genuine spirit were felt not only by those she cared for professionally but also by her family and friends.

To her friends and everyone she met, Vee was a pillar of unwavering support and encouragement. Her witty humor often brought about bursts of laughter just when it was needed most, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her compassion and devotion were evident in the circle of friends who remained steadfast in their support throughout her life.

Within her family, Vee’s love was evident in every action. From caring for her mother to being a protective and loving sister to her brother. She was immensely proud of her three children, with whom she created unforgettable memories filled with love and joy. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love were the cornerstones of her family life.

Vee’s children, Jak, Mik, and Ian, will carry on her legacy of love, strength, and compassion. The values she instilled in them and the memories they created together will continue to guide and inspire them.

Vee believed deeply in the beauty of giving, and her final act was a testament to that belief. Through the selfless gift of organ donation, Vee has given the most precious gift of all—life—to those in need. Her legacy will live on, not only through her children, but through the hearts that beat stronger, the lungs that breathe easier, and the lives that are lived more fully because of her generosity.

Just as in her life here on earth she continues to provide hope to those in need. She has transformed despair into hope and turned sorrow into new beginnings.

Vee leaves behind a legacy of beautiful memories and a life filled with love, laughter, and compassion. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Please join us at Emmanuel Lutheran Church July 5, 2024 at 12pm for a service and reception afterwards.

Vee always responded "oh, just peachy" when asked how she was doing. She was a steady friend to lean on when I was going through a tough time. We shared many diners, cries and laughs together. I'll never forget her quirky remarks and the way she ate her over easy eggs. She was truly loved and will be deeply missed. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers for her children children, her family and her friends. Rest in paradise sis! ❤️🙏🏽🌹

My dear friend Vee, how can I begin to express the profound impact you've had on my life? From the moment we first met at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in the summer of 2018, I knew you were destined to play a special role in my journey. As one of the few Filipino-Americans in our congregation, it was easy for us to connect. Starting over as a single parent, your warm presence was a source of comfort and strength for me. You always had a smile on your face, no matter the circumstances. Life wasn't always easy for you either, yet you pushed forward with an inspiring positive attitude. We shared a deep love for volunteering and a passion for service, especially when it came to helping others. You embodied this spirit of giving even to your last breath as an organ donor. Imagine the lives of the people you helped—all 8 or 9 of them, whom you gifted a second chance at life to, so they could continue to live and love. I am grateful to know that, wherever they may be, you are so very much alive with them and in them! I cherish the memories of us, along with your beautiful daughters, Mikayla and Jakrista, and my three children, Won, Karelle, and Lucky, my better half, Mark Crist, and all our close friends at Emmanuel, participating in our church events, especially the ones we had for our Youth Group and the American Red Cross Blood Drives we had at church. We have saved 272 lives so far! Your youngest, Ian, was always there with us too, even as a toddler, adding to the joy of those moments. Every Sunday, our routine of hugs, "kamusta," and quick catch-ups became a cherished part of my life. We often promised each other that we'd find time for a girl date someday, but life's busyness with work, school, and mommy duties kept getting in the way. I regret not making that time, but I hold onto the hope that I can take a rain check in the next life. Vee, you were more than a friend—you were like family to me. Your unwavering support, kindness, and the joy you brought will be deeply missed. Seeing your familiar corner on the church pews, now empty with your absence, is a poignant reminder of the void you will leave. I will miss you dearly. Thank you for being such an important part of my life. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know you, and all the people to whom you gave the gift of life. May you rest in peace, and may God bless and keep you always wherever you are.
