Ronnie was born Norfolk, Va to Eunice and Leroy Lewis, who were both from the Eastern Shore, Va. Ronnie grew up in Oceanview and attended Granby High School. His expertise ranged from tree work to sheet metal. He began his career with Civil Service in 1975 as a sheet metal worker at Naval Air Rework Facility in Norfolk. Later , as a sheet metal mechanic, he worked for Naval Aviation Depot , also in Norfolk. In 1995, the Norfolk Depot closure forced him to transfer to the Naval Aviation Depot in Jacksonville, Florida. He remained there until his retirement in January 2013.
He is survived by his 91 year old mother, Eunice; his only son, Ronnie II; daughter-in-law, Crisie; his first grandbaby on the way; sisters, Pam Moore and Carol Bender; brother, Ed Lewis, and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
