I just found out yesterday that my dear friend and hair stylist passed away in February! I will miss her for the rest of my life, as we were very close and was always cheering each other up, during surgeries and everyday things. God bless my friend, I shall see you soon, as I'm not in the best of health! My love, always Vel

I met Susan many years ago when she opened a salon in the old Royster building in downtown Norfolk. I worked in the building and stopped in for a haircut. That was the start of our decades long friendship and hairdresser/client relationship. Eventually my husband, father and young daughters started going to her. Susan was such a warm, friendly and compassionate friend. We will miss seeing her for our haircuts but most of all, we will just miss sitting and talking to her about just about everything. We'll never forget her. Rest in peace my friend. You worked so hard for so many years.

Susan was a lifelong friend. We met when we were 4 or 5 years old and had many shared adventures before the days of internet, thank goodness. We began 1st grade together. We enrolled at Interstate Beauty Academy together. We once had a shop together on Virginia Beach Blvd. Susan was the maid of honor at my wedding. Shortly after I married, I moved to NC & didn't see Susan much. We reconnected in 2023 & made plans for one of Susan's ideas. Unfortunately cancer had other plans. My dear friend was brave & kind to the end. I will miss her until we all meet again.

My deepest condolences to my cousin, Adam. Susan was my aunt and my dad, Phillip Paul's little sister. My brother, Brooke and I were born in Virginia and grew up in Michigan. I loved our family trips to Virginia when my brother and I were kids. We would spend wonderful, quality time with Aunt Sue, Uncle David, along with our cousin Davey (David Paul). Aunt Sue would always cut our hair at her salons or at our Grandma Paul's house. We had so much fun one summer when she and her best friend, Pam, rented a home near the beach. Oh the summer fun we had! She was so kind and loving, just like my dad, my Uncle David and Grandma Paul. They all had the most loving hearts and incredible compassion for others. I wish we would have stayed closer over the past few decades, but our hearts will remain connected forever. I know she is with her parents (my grandma & grandpa), my dad and my uncle. I miss them all so much. Our time together will always remain some of the most beautiful and cherished memories I will hold close for the rest of my life. I know we will all be together again someday. I will love you for eternity, Aunt Sue.

I started out as a client of Susan. It didn't take long for us to become friends. Over the years, Susan has had her ups and downs. However, no matter how crazy her life was at times, Susan had a smile and warmth about her that made you feel welcomed. I will miss her greatly.

Susan was my best friend. I met her in 1977, working with her at Captain Zig Zag Hair Salon in VB. I was fresh out of beauty school, first job ever and Susan and I became fast friends and remained that way all our lives. She was like a sister to me, always the cheerleader and fun to be around. We have shared many ups and downs through out our lives. After she started getting chemo and she started to lose her hair, she still had some hair left and I'm so thankful I was able to give her a haircut to help her feel better, little did I know it would be our last cut together. She was a kind person, positive, nurturing, friendly, animal lover, business woman, a Co worker at different hair salons she owned or we worked at, she loved being outside when the weather permitted, had a wonderful soul, but mostly she had a great heart. Her love for her profession always shined through. However, her greatest love was and is her son Adam ❤️, he was always on her mind, she was always wanting only the best for him...Please, WE NEED A CURE FOR CANCER!! God rest your soul my dear friend SUSAN.

Susan was true friend of mine. She was very kind and loved everyone. We attended concerts together and had many long talks. She was my hairdresser but most importantly..my friend. I will miss her and relieved she is no longer suffering. Until we meet again Susan...
