Teri Cross, a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, caring sister, and lifelong caregiver, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, at Sentara Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was 61 years old.

Born on April 20, 1964, in Tachikawa, Japan, Teri was the daughter of Kathleen Jones and Earnest Webb, who preceded her in death. She grew up with a strong sense of compassion and dedication.

Teri spent her career doing what she loved most: caring for children. As the heart and soul of her day care center, she nurtured generations of little ones, offering them a safe, loving, and joyful environment in which to grow. Her work was more than a job—it reflected who she was. Her impact on the families she served will be felt for years to come.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Guthrie; her three sons, Ryan Cross, Cory Cross (Brittany), and Robbie Guthrie; her cherished grandchildren, Selena Waggoner and Avery Cross: and her brother, Earnest Roberts. Teri was the steady, loving presence at the center of her family, and her memory will live on in their hearts and lives forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 6, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.at the Rokeby Center, 1709 Rokeby Avenue, Chesapeake, Virginia. All who knew and loved Teri are invited to attend and honor her memory. In the spirit of community and togetherness, guests are kindly asked to bring a dish to share.

Teri’s life was a testament to love, selflessness, and strength. Though her time with us was far too short, her legacy will remain—a legacy built on caring for others, loving deeply, and living with grace.
