Obituary For Thomas Alexander Daigle

Thomas Alexander Daigle, born on November 9, 1952, in Mount Desert Island Maine, passed away on August 3, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 72.

He came to Virginia with the United States Navy after being drafted into the Vietnam War. He enjoyed his time serving and those that he served with, he just wished a war hadn’t brought them all together. He always had the best stories of things that happened on the ship and at various ports around the world. After the conflict was over he went on to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he completed an apprenticeship for welding.

Tom was a master welder and mechanic, where he demonstrated a strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. Known for his reliability and skill. He had the most beautiful weld you've ever seen.

He didn't know a stranger and would help anyone that he could. He was a storyteller, a narrator of life, and a collector of lore. He always had a tale to tell. His laugh and smile would light up the room, and his mustache was beyond legendary.

He taught us that you don't have to be perfect to try, and that that makes all the difference in the end. He was a good dad, a good guy and he tried to be better to people than people had been to him in his past. He was strong and he was kind, and most often he was a really great time. We watched cartoons, movies, went to the skating rink, the mall, and the beach. He was always down for a hot fudge sundae, Burger King, and black coffee with a cup of ice so as to “not burn his tender lips”. He wanted to laugh and most days he just wanted to make people smile.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Helen Davis and Joseph Emil Daigle, three brothers and sister-in-law, Richard and wife Jane, Steven, and Michael Daigle. He is survived by his two brothers Phillip and Robert Daigle, daughters Christina Daigle and Heather Nittinger, grandchildren Hailey and Luca Nittinger, the mothers of his children Delores and Lisa, many nieces and nephews, his buddies Sydnie, Justin, LaToya, Charmayne. He is survived by his best friend, his most precious companion and confidant during his hardest times, Indy. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends at Autumn Care Norfolk and The Breakfast Shoppe whose care and friendship meant the world to him.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at a later date. The family appreciates the support and condolences of all who knew him during this difficult time.

Simply Cremation is handling the arrangements.
