Thomas Francis McClernon, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 13, 2022, surrounded by family. Tom was born on April 27, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Thomas Francis and Catherine McClernon and graduated from LaSalle University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial management and from Golden Gate University with a Master of Public Administration in Governances. Tom served with the U.S. Navy for 23 years and after retiring as a Lieutenant Commander continued to serve his community through several civic volunteer positions. Devoted husband to Dianne for 52 years, loving father to Sean (Kimberly), Shannon (Richard) and Kelly (Donny). Proud grandfather to Madeline, Charles and Liam McClernon, Collin and Leah Whitney, Gabriel and Amelia Reyes. Tom loved the Lord and his family and will be most remembered for his humorous engaging charm and his captivating stories that were often perfectly paired with a well-crafted cocktail. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him. A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Atlantic Shores Baptist Church, Life Center, 1861 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23464.
