  Boots Farley

  I was very sorry to read of Wayne Woods passing. Now I haven't seen Wayne for 56 years but he was a great part of my teenage years. He usually rode (my) Farley bus to First Colonial High School in 66/67, along with Dean Ballard, Carl Shelton, and Dale Boykin. He was an excellent drummer and I accompanied him to many of his band's gigs. I will never forget how surprised I was regarding how fast he could run (I always thought he should have been on First Colonial's football team). One night during the Shriners convention we were walking and saw a man steal a Shriner's hat and run away. He was fast and had a block lead but Wayne chased him down, got the hat and returned it to the Shriner. Just the kind of guy Wayne was! I moved away, got married, and didn't get to see Wayne after that but, please know that even now he will be missed !! Boots Farley

  Oh Sherry, I am so sorry and praying for you and the wonderful family you and Wayne created. I remember you and Wayne as teenagers, a young couple with precious little boys, and it seems this time just came way too soon. Thinking of you and praying for peace and comfort.
