Virginia Beach - Amanda Sue (Short) Thomas, born on June 24, 1982, in Madison, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 42.

Raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Amanda graduated from Green Run High School in 2000. She furthered her education by earning an Associate's Degree in Interior Design from Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach.

Amanda was employed at Barclay Towers, where she served diligently as a desk clerk and night auditor, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and guests alike.

She was a loving wife to Nicholas Thomas and a devoted mother to her children, Micah Elizabeth Thomas, Samuel Nixon Todd Thomas, and Joshua Brice VanAusdal. Her family extended beyond her immediate household, encompassing her parents, Brice and Tammie VanAusdal, and her siblings, Heidi Watson (Art), Meggan Brinkley (Brad), and Joshua Diaz (Nesa). Amanda was also cherished by her grandparents, David and Rachel Patchett, and a host of nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as "Aunt Moo Moo."

Amanda is preceded in death by her father, Neville Short; her grandparents, Lawrence and Fayrine Graves, and Carl and Gladis Short; and her aunts, Carol, Jeanie, and Bonnie Short, as well as her uncles, Stewart and James Short.

She leaves behind many beloved family members, including her nieces, Savanah, Aralyn, Arial, and Harmoney, and her nephews, Jordan, Tommie, Jonathan, Chase, Scotty, Rocky, Max, and Art. She is also survived by her uncles, "Uncle Bill," Clayton Patchett (Michele), Rex Short, Garnie Graves (Terry), Curt Graves, Lawson Graves, and her aunt, Della Callis.

Amanda's life was a testament to love and kindness, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. No services are planned at this time.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and grace of her Lord and Savior.
